CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A new officer was sworn into the Clarksburg Police Department on Wednesday morning.

Clarksburg native Preston Lewis took his oath to protect and serve in council chambers. Preston recently graduated from Fairmont State with a degree in criminal justice. The 22-year-old rookie said he is excited about bringing justice to his hometown.

“I’m somebody that the community can rely on to get the job done whenever I’m needed. Someone they can depend on, someone who will be respectful and treat them like people at the end of the day,” Lewis said.

Lewis will immediately begin with a field training officer and then hopes to be enrolled for the academy in Institute, West Virginia in July.
