Nutter Fort Town Council gives Bonnie Belle’s Pastries key to the town

Nutter Fort Town Council honored a long-time business Tuesday night by presenting them the key to the town.

Bonnie Belle’s Pastries was honored by Mayor, Sam Maxon with a declaration as well as the Key to the town. Owners Patrick Hawkins and Linda Fowler say they are deeply moved and honored to receive the key to the town while providing baked goods to the community.

Bonnie and Dick Hawkins started the bakery in Nutter Fort in 1947.

“I grew up in this town, over at the city park. It’s home. My whole life has been Nutter Fort every day of my life. And to be honored like that from something that means so much to me its special,” said Hawkins.

Owner Linda Fowler said they still use Bonnie’s original formulas, and that the bakery over the years has come a long way.

“Were deeply moved and honored to receive this, this is wonderful. Bonnie and Dick Hawkins would be so happy and proud of this because they were wonderful,” said Fowelr.

Bonnie Belle’s Pastries has a second location in White Oaks area of Bridgeport to meet the demands of the community for baked goods.
