Penn Station in Clarksburg celebrates opening with ribbon cutting ceremony

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A new sandwich shop that just opened in Clarksburg held a ribbon cutting Thursday morning.

Penn Station East Coast Subs opened a few weeks ago on Emily Dr., but owners and city leaders made it official with a ribbon cutting.

Owner-operators Roger and Marilynn Kirkland said the reception they have received from customers and the city itself has been as warm as their famous Philly cheesesteaks.

“We’ve opened up 10 of these.  We’ve been in business for 15 years,” Roger Kirkland said.  “This is the first time that the city, any city, has looked at us and said, ‘Let’s do a ribbon cutting.  Let’s make this special.  We appreciate you coming here.'”

Kirkland said he has been dreaming of opening a Penn Station in Clarksburg for at least five years, and that dream was made possible when the old Sutton Hotel was torn down last year.
