Food trucks are becoming increasingly popular every year and now a new hot dog food truck has made its way to Clarksburg.
According to the owner and chef, Patrick Cochran, Shaggy’s Dogs food truck opened just over a month ago by a local resident and his family who grew up making his grandma’s special homemade chili dog recipe.
“I’ve had a lot of people wanting to buy that chili, and it makes me feel really good about that,” said Cochran.
Loyal customers like Melissa Harris said her whole family enjoys Shaggy’s Dogs.
“I love the homemade chili, his grandma’s recipe, it is great, and my kids absolutely love his hot dogs. My son wouldn’t eat T&L hot dogs, and my son tore two of his hot dogs up in no time,” said Harris.
Cochran has three different hot dog and Philly cheese steak options and has hopes of expanding his menu with growing popularity.
“We do a hot dog special, two hot dogs, chips and a pop for $5, and a cheese steak special, which includes one cheese steak, chips and a pop for $6,” explained Cochran.
“He does all-American beef franks, which are delicious, whatever, I mean, it’s better better than the store boughten hot dogs. His hot dogs are plump, they’re fresh, they’re ready to go, they’re hot, they’re just, they’re delicious,” said Harris.
Though Shaggy’s Dogs has only been open the past month, it’s already grown a loyal following from local residents.
“As soon as I drove down by Kroger’s, I’m like ‘Oh my God, there’s the hot dog man. I so got to stop because I love his hot dogs’. So, we made a U-turn immediately. I do keep track of him on Facebook and everything, like today, unfortunately, I didn’t know he was set up here. That’s why, when I seen him, I just had to stop because I wanted his hot dogs,” explained Harris.
Cochran said as long as business continues to grow the way it has he has plans on expanding his food truck in the coming months.
“We’re hoping to start getting a lot more customers, get a bigger trailer, be able to open up the variety. People love it. They follow me around. Means a lot, I mean it just, for the fact of them coming back to me,” said Cochran.
