The renovated Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center held a soft opening for the public on Saturday, showcasing it’s new ballroom, architecture and performance hall.
The city bought the building back in 2013 and has since been working on renovations and upgrades to the facility since.
The center hosted artists performing at the opening, as well as a show on the main stage from the ‘Appalachian Swing’ group.
Ryan Tolley, executive director of the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center, said he is excited for what the center can bring for the community.
“We can do a lot of different things, so it’s extremely flexible and we can accommodate almost any sort of live event. So we’ve got the preservation aspect, the economic development as well as the cultural opportunities. So it’s those three main areas that are our main priorities,” said Tolley.
The center will have upcoming shows and the facility is also available for rentals and events.
