The city of Shinnston started its Fourth of July celebrations Sunday night.
A large crowd gathered at Ferguson Park, all looking to get not only the best seat to see the performance by the Shinnston Community Band, but the fireworks, too.
This is the twenty-third summer of the band performing at the city’s Independence Day Celebration.
The start of the fireworks overlapped nicely with the conclusion of their final song selection.
“Oh that’s exciting, especially when you’re playing “Stars and Stripes Forever” and these fireworks start going off overtop of you as you’re playing. it kind of gives you chills,” Mike Cale, Musical Director.
Everyone on hand seemed to enjoy the fireworks.
Fourth of July fireworks will continue through the area over the next few days.
