Sponsorship provides LED basketball lights for emergency youth shelters across the state

Harrison

Families in West Virginia are sponsoring special equipment to be donated to youth shelters and foster care homes in the state.

GLOgames made a special donation on Christmas Eve at the Genesis Youth Crisis Center in Clarksburg.  GLOgames is installing LED basketball rim lights through the Light It Up 4 Kids sponsorship.

A gift of $50 will provide a rim light that will be installed in a youth facility for kids to use.

“What we know is kids need to be as active as possible to be healthy, and we think it’s a great product, and we’re very excited to partner with all of the shelters in the state of West Virginia to provide this product,” said Ruston Seaman, President of GLOgames.

The goal is to sponsor all of the basketball hoops in all emergency youth shelters in the state.

26 hoops were sponsored this Christmas, including the Genesis Youth Crisis Center in Clarksburg and Chestnut Mountain Ranch in Monongalia County.

“We’re really excited about the donation.  We’re able to offer the kids a lot of recreational outlets, and this will just add to that.  It will give them a new way to play basketball, maybe engage some kids that don’t normally play basketball and give them a new interactive play,” said Derika Bowyer, Director of Development and Community Based Services for the Genesis Youth Crisis Center.

The product “Light it up” has LED lights on the inside and outside, and it allows kids to play basketball at night.

“To hear kids playing, that’s what childhood is meant to be about.  So many kids, their life is really stressed out, and they’re struggling, so it’s just a delight to see kids enjoying life and being children,” said Seaman.
