Clarksburg-Harrison Regional Housing Authority was awarded $163,625 to provide rehabilitation to five owner-occupied units in the city’s Monticello Avenue area.
“What it does is it provides home repairs, but the big repairs the kind that are essential, but yet maybe the families can’t afford it. Which would be electrical, roofing, HVAC, plumbing, foundation. Those types of things.” said Louis Aragona, executive director of Clarksburg-Harrison Regional Housing Authority.
Mountain Opportunities Corporation received the remaining portion of $163,625 to provide rehabilitation to five owner-occupied units in the historic Glen Elks district.
“We provided the technical assistance and partnership with Clarksburg housing authority and the mountain opportunities corporation with the application process in the funding through the FHL Bank in Pittsburgh, so it’s something we take pride in, helping out and serving the community and it’s just the right thing to do and what we like doing.” said Tony Merendino, banking center manager of MVB Bank.
Home repairs will benefit five low to moderate-income families, with one unit reserved for an individuals with disabilities or a history of substance abuse.
