The United States gained 13 new citizens Friday.
Officials held a naturalization ceremony today at the United States District Court in Clarksburg.
Judge Irene Keeley presided over the event and welcomed in people representing 11 countries and five continents.
One of the newest citizens explained why she went through all of the hard work to achieve this status.
“I always had hope for myself. I always wanted to become better and I always have the highest hope that I could do better and I always wanted to progress in life and give a better future for me and my family,” said new U.S. citizen Claudia Driscoll.
The new citizens took part in a reception following Friday’s ceremony.
