With furloughed federal employees dealing with the uncertainty of the partial federal government shut down, the United Way of Harrison Co. decided to hold an informational fair to provide some assistance.
The fair lasted from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrison Co. Board of Education building in Clarksburg.
United Way member agencies, along with representatives of the Louis A. Johnson V.A. Medical Center and City National Bank were on hand to lend information on available services.
“We were seeing that there was a good bit of information out there about services for employees but there wasn’t a centralized location where somebody could come and receive that information,” United Way Exec. Dir. Tina Yoke said. “So, we have a wonderful space here and a lot of contacts in the communuty so we thought it was just one small thing we could do to help.”
Refreshments were also made available for employees who stopped by.
Yoke says the fair was just an additional way the United Way could help out the community.
