Wing connoisseurs and competitive eaters alike gathered at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Bridgeport for the 2019 United Way Hot Wing Eating Contest on Wednesday evening.

Over 40 contestants took on the challenge to see who could eat the most hot wings in eight minutes. Community members sponsored contestants with all proceeds being donated to the United Way of Harrison County

Over $73,000 was raised in donations, and money will got to 25 local non-profits in Harrison County.

“This is one of the best fundraisers that we have each year. It’s a lot of fun. People get to come out, learn about the United Way. It’s a great opportunity for local companies to have a little bit of a rivalry and also raise money for a tremendous cause,” Brock Malcom, campaign chair.

WBOY’s own Ronnell Hunt was on of the contestants in Wednesday’s contest, and placed third by eating 32 wings in eight minutes.

“Not to bad, eight wings away from getting first place. But the overall things is, it was about a great cause. It was good to represent Channel 12 news. It was good to have Miley Legal Group and Tim Miley be my sponsor for the wings. So overall I think its a good story,” said Hunt.
