United Way of Harrison County hosts second annual Burn in the Burg chili cook-off

Chili is a popular dish this time of year and United Way of Harrison County used that to its advantage by hosting the second annual Burn in the Burg Chili Cook-off.

This chili cook-off is one of many fundraisers hosted by United Way of Harrison County, which included nine different chili contestants along with three hot dog chili contestants.

Our own reporter Amelia Henderson and meteorologist Scott Sincoff were in attendance to judge the different chili prepared.

Campaign chair for United Way of Harrison County, Brock Malcolm, said the whole reason for this event is to support the community.

“One of the things that we always hear is that there’s nothing to do here in the local community, so we thought it would be an opportunity to create a fun event that’s good for the whole family and also hopefully raise a little bit of money for our campaign, which of course goes to support 26 local non-profit agencies that are helping people in need across the county,” said Malcolm.

Our WBOY family said despite the winning chili all competitors did a great job and are encouraged to participate again next year.
