The United Way of Harrison County has finished tabulating the money raised from its annual chicken wing eating contest held on Wednesday.
According to Executive Director, Tina Yoke, the United Way brought in $74,000 that night alone.
She says that money goes a long way in helping them reach their final goal, but they need a little more assistance to help put them over the top.
“Every single dollar counts, that’s where the money comes from, is our community members,” said Yoke. “So, somebody who can give $10 a year is just as important as somebody who can give $10,000 a year.”
Yoke says the United Way is has raised a little more than $700,000 right now or about 76 percent of their yearly goal. The deadline is February 28.
The United Way of Harrison County gives to 25 different organizations throughout the county.
