VA hosts annual VA2K Walk for homeless veterans

CLARKSBURG, W.Va.- Community members enjoyed the beautiful weather Wednesday afternoon by taking part in the VA Hospital’s 2K event.

VA2K is a national event, with 2k walks taking place at local VAs throughout the country. Louis A. Johnson Medical Center employees and community members walked in an effort to promote wellness and create awareness about the hospital’s homeless veteran program. A program Marine Veteran Stephen Morrison experienced first-hand.

“That kind and warm heart that I get from every employee at the VA, they are always willing to help. I was in a spot in my life where I was really struggling and just needed guidance. They helped me get back on my feet, a place to stay, a job, it’s been amazing,” explained Marine Veteran Stephen Morrison.

All donations from the walk will benefit the Homeless Veteran Program at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. For information on helping local veterans, click here.
