“Wiggly Wednesday” at Bridgeport Public Library helps kids get active

Children used “Wiggly Wednesday” at the Bridgeport Public Library for a chance to learn while getting exercise.

This weekly event is held every Wednesday at 3 p.m. and is recommended for children ages four through eight. It combines reading aloud with games and music to help kids get educated while staying physically active.

About 15 children are present each week and it is one of the library’s most popular activities.

“It gets the kids moving. It also incorporates literature and different types of movements, different sounds, so they’re learning to read as they move, which is a very tactile way for children to read,” said instructor Amy Eakle.

The library also holds a story time geared towards toddlers every Friday at 10:30 a.m.
