Women, Infants and Children or WIC, moved into a new location Wednesday evening.
WIC is a federal program of the Monongalia County Health Department that provides services to mothers, pregnant women, and children up to five years .
After 24 years at a Clarksburg location, the facility has been moved to East Main street in Bridgeport. The previous building was sold and is to be torn down.
The facility offers various services such as a nutrition education program, a breast feeding program, and also has food care packages. There are qualifications for the programs, but WIC says there are many different ways to be eligible.
“The idea is to improve the health and nutrition of women during pregnancy, breast feeding, and then children up to five, so that they have normal growth and development,” said Anne Macbride, WIC program manager.
The new location is at 102 East Main street in Bridgeport.
