WVU Medicine welcomed another regional hospital into its hospital system Wednesday morning.
Braxton County Memorial Hospital is the latest addition to the system.
The Gassaway hospital was founded 38 years ago to fill local health needs after two other county hospitals closed.
Officials said the addition of BCMH to the system will improve healthcare to area residents by offering more services and better access.
“What’s coming down the pike is great things: access to higher-level specialty services, telemedicine, you know, all the things that we can bring to Braxton County that in the past, they may have had to travel,” said BCMH CEO Karen Bowling.
WVU Medicine operates facilities around West Virginia and in four other states.
