Registration for WV’s $100 COVID-19 vaccine incentive is now open

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Nearly a month after it was first announced, registration is now open for $100 COVID-19 vaccination incentives, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice said Thursday.

Any West Virginia resident, between the ages of 16 and 35, can now register online to received either a $100 savings bond or a $100 gift card. This applies to anyone in that age group who has been or will be vaccinated. Justice projected that the program will cost around $20 million.

Justice called for more residents in that age group to get vaccinated.

WV Senior Centers to reopen:

The governor also announced that all West Virginia Senior Centers will be able to fully open, with specific guidelines being issued Thursday. Un-vaccinated seniors will still have to wear a mask inside the centers, Justice said.

Businesses can still require masks:

The governor asked residents not to push back on businesses that still require masks.

Marshall soccer championship:

Justice recounted his trip to North Carolina for Marshall’s national championship soccer win, earlier this week. “I was one proud puppy,” Justice said.

Happy birthday wishes:

Gov. Justice also wished a “happy birthday” to Ret. Maj. Gen. Jim Hoyer, joking that he’s turning 118.
