Lewis County High School students, teachers, and coaches join together to help one of their own

Varsity basketball team manager and Senior Travis Riffle unexpectedly lost his father just a few days ago.

His classmates organized a fundraiser Tuesday to help pay for funeral expenses.

They held a car wash, BBQ, and bake sale at CVS Pharmacy.

Senior Brooklyn Detamore organized Tuesday’s event and says it was easy for the community to come together and support Travis and his family.

“Travis is a good friend to all of us. He walks down the hallways with a smile on his face giving everybody high fives, and taking pictures with all of us. So everyone thought it was a good idea to love Travis and come together and help us out,” said Detamore.

Teachers say they collected more than $4,000 and that should cover all funeral expenses for the Riffle family.
