Lewis County Commission declares April Child Abuse Awareness Month

Lewis

The Lewis County Commission has declared April to be Child Abuse Awareness Month.

During its regular meeting Tuesday, the commission approved the proclamation presented by the Lewis County Family Resource Network (FRN.) The commission and other county officials also gathered on the courthouse plaza to raise a flag commemorating the month.

FRN staff said they want everyone to take part in making sure kids in their community are protected.

“It is the entire community’s responsibility to keep children and families safe, and through proclamation readings and flag-raisings, we can bring that awareness and let every single person in the community know that they have a hand in doing just that,” said FRN Director Deanna Palmer.

Commissioners also read and approved a second proclamation presented by HOPE Inc. declaring April Sexual Assault Awareness Month as well.
