The Lewis County Family Resource Network was making sure school students stayed well fed through the winter.
The FRN handed out hundreds of snack packs to students in Lewis County Schools as they headed home Thursday afternoon. The packs will help feed students over the weekend.
FRN staff said keeping kids well fed is as important to their mental development as their physical.
“It’s absolutely important. Proper nutrition is not only important for the school day, but also for days that kiddos aren’t in school. They’re still burning energy and still need those extra calories,” said FRN Director Deanna Palmer.
Palmer said the packs may be more important this week as cold weather is likely to keep students out of schools tomorrow as well.
