The Lewis County Health Department is offering a drive through immunization clinic, but not for the flu.
Officials at the health department will be offering hepatitis A vaccinations from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Monday morning.
The shot is the first of two needed to grant lifetime immunity to the disease, which has become more prevalent across the state.
“West Virginia is experiencing an outbreak of hepatitis A. We are not at outbreak proportions in Lewis County at this time, but we want to prevent that, so we want to try to get ahead of the game,” said health department nurse Crystal Lough.
The second shot to complete the immunization is needed six months after receiving the first, and Lough said that will also be available at the department.
