There’s a new governor in West Virginia, but his office is in Jackson’s Mill, not Charleston.
Boys State citizens elected Connor Wickline, a senior at Liberty High School in Harrison County as their 81st governor.
Wickline took office this afternoon, and began his duties along with the Boys State Legislature earlier this morning.
He wants to show that his generation is still looking forward to their chance to lead.
“I think that this program and all of us citizens are a little beacon of light to shine out into the community, and really across the country to show that there really are some kids interested in democracy and running the country someday,” said Wickline.
80th Boys State Governor Angelo Cocchiaro returned this year as staff, and is helping Wickline lead in his new job this week.
