Memorial Day events to return to Weston

WESTON, W.Va. – One local city will remember its veterans with a series of Memorial Day events this weekend.

The Weston Memorial Day parade returns on Saturday morning, starting at 11 o’clock from Robert L. Bland Middle School.

The parade route ends at the Mountaineer Military Museum, which will hold its annual Vet-Together after the parade ends.

Parade organizer Bob Golden said he wanted to bring the tradition back after the parade stopped for a few years.

“I myself did not serve, but I have all the respect in the world for the veterans, especially for the ones that never came home, so that’s my reason behind it,” said Golden.

Golden said he expects about 100 entries in the parade this year, and that anyone who shows up on the day to participate will be added in.
