Pools will be opening up across the Mountain State this Memorial Day weekend, and crews have been prepping for weeks to get ready for the summer.
Lewis County Park has been working for over a month to get its pool up to code.
Preparations included making sure every bolt and screw is in tight, and filling the swimming area with over 300,000 gallons of water.
Local students get to test out the pool all this week before it opens to the public Saturday.
“It’s several counties around us bring their students, all the way even from Elkins, bring their students to us to enjoy this pool,” said John Shaffer, Lewis County park director.
Shaffer said the park has plenty of events planned for the summer, including a movie night in June and a “National Night Out” with law enforcement officials in August.
