The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum and Sharpe Hospital in Weston are partnering for a Memorial Day ceremony of their own for the second year.
The two organizations will hold a memorial ceremony for former residents of the asylum buried in the graveyards on the asylum grounds.
Many of the people there are in unmarked graves, and staff said it’s important to remember the veterans and other patients who died there, too.
“We’re really honored to be able to work with the auxiliary at Sharpe to take this time to pay tribute to all the men and women who are buried in the hospital cemeteries,” said Bethany Cutright, who organized the ceremony for the Asylum.
The ceremony will start Friday at 11 a.m. on the grounds of TALA. Call (304) 269-5070 for more information.
