The Stonewall Jackson Dam held its first Family Fun Safety Day at the Stonewall Jackson Dam in Weston on Saturday.
This event was free to the public and was based on different types of safety such as water safety and car seat safety.
Barbara Tucker, member of Lewis County Family Resource Network, said the government agency safety booths were set up to give hands on safety demonstrations for all guests.
“Our goal is to number one get families out and to enjoy the nature of West Virginia more safely, but we also want to make some community connections with people and with families,” said Tucker.
This event also included various prizes for guests such as free helmets in order to keep the members of the community safe.
Coordinators said they hope to make this an annual event to help educate the community on the importance of all varieties of safety.
