Local elementary school student becomes a finalist in national drawing competition

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Ava Monroe, a student at North Elementary in Morgantown was selected as a finalist in Google’s national drawing competition, Doodle4Google. 

Monroe is very passionate about the earth and keeping it clean and showed her vision of what she would like earth to look like in her drawing. 

If she wins, she will receive a thirty thousand dollar college scholarship and a new technology lab for her school valued at fifty thousand dollars. 

“I can’t think of anyone in this school that deserves it more than she does. She is very kind and very sweet and she always cares about her classmates,” said Carol Muniz, Assistant Principal at North Elementary.
