Harrison County Board of Educations recognizes multiple community achievements


The Harrison County Board of Education had various special recognitions and awards to hand out at their meeting Tuesday night.

First up were the graduates and sponsors of the ‘Healthily Grand Families  program’. Twenty-one grandparents who take care of twenty-eight students, representing fourteen Harrison county schools completed the program.

Next, the board handed out engraved trophies to the winners of the Harrison County Battle of the Books competition. A third and fourth grade team from West Milford won the championship title for their grades. A fifth grade team from Nutter Fort won their division championship.

The board also recognized student winners that participated in the Arts Alive competition. Their artwork was shown in the board room and each student was given a certificate.

And lastly, the board congratulated Wendy Carr who completed on intensive online course and received the National School Nurse Certification.

All the awards given tonight honored the community achievements in Harrison County,
