American Heart Association to hold Greater Morgantown Heart Walk

Monongalia and Preston

This Saturday, May 4th, the Greater Morgantown Heart Walk will be held at the West Virginia University Coliseum hosted by the American Heart Association.

This is the celebration of heart health and survivors of heart disease in the community.

The main event will be held at the WVU band practice site next to the coliseum.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will commence at 9 a.m.

This will be a non competitive 5K.

“So heart disease, especially in West Virginia, is a huge public health crisis and we’re working to do everything we can as the American Heart Association to get out awareness, whether it’s healthy eating, or simply asking everyone to walk 30 minutes a day or be physically active 30 minutes a day, three days a week,” said Ryan Jerico, Development Director for the American Heart Association.

All proceeds will go toward research and community programming for the American Heart Association in West Virginia.

More than $90,000 has already been raised for the Greater Morgantown Heart Walk and the goal is to raise $100,000.
