Chestnut Ridge Church is holding its first ever ‘Back Pack to School Drive’.
Community members were encouraged to collect items for elementary, middle, and high school students.
Friday, the church partnered up with the West Virginia Black Bears Baseball organization to distribute over 200 backpacks.
These items will be taken to local schools.
“So we see a lot of families that are in need, and we just want to help them out any way that we can, and we know that kids struggle going back to school because they need so many things. They have supply lists they have to get. We just wanted to help them out in any way that we could, and all of these backpacks are filled with as much as we could think of. All of the supplies that we could think of [are] on the list. So hopefully that will help them out and start the year right,” said Sarah Shaffer, Communication Coordinator for Chestnut Ridge Church.
Backpacks are filled with everything from crayons to geometry sets and dictionaries.
