The City of Morgantown received an $800,738.19 grant for preparation of a runway extension study.

This will go toward the preparation of the environmental assessment for a proposed 1,001 foot extension to the runway at the Morgantown Municipal Airport.

This study looks at the environmental impact of the runway, such as disruption of wildlife, plantlife, or aquatic species.

“We’re excited to move this important project forward for corporate aviation, business flyers, and recreation flyers, and others that frequently use the Morgantown Municipal Airport,” said Paul Brake, Morgantown City Manager.

$758,594.00 of the grant was provided by the Federal Aaviation Administration, and $42,144.19 of the grant was provided by the West Virginia Aeronautics Commission.
