Monongalia County Delegate Evan Hansen feels that District 4 is not getting the funding from the Division of Highways that it deserves.
He says that the DOH formula for allocating maintenance funds to counties and districts has not been used for the past 15 years.
After doing some number crunching, Hansen found that District 4 has been shortchanged about 15 million dollars.
“Road maintenance funding is supposed to be used for patching potholes and for maintaining the ditches and the drainage along the roadways which allow the pavement to last longer. So it’s funding for those types of things, plus snow and ice removal that we just haven’t seen the money for,” said Hansen.
This finding is based on DOH data analyzed by Delegate Hansen.
