North Elementary School and the ‘Pantry Plus More’ program partnered to host a ‘Back to School Bash’ in Morgantown on Friday.
This was open to all students in the Monongalia County School District.
Students were provided with backpacks, school supplies and free haircuts.
Many items from the school’s ‘Pantry Plus More’ store were also distributed, including personal hygiene products and nonperishable food items.
“Last year we offered some haircuts to some of our students free of charge, and we just saw the benefit of how much they felt better about themselves, and just thought what a great way to start the year of having students feel confident about going back to school by looking good, feeling good and having a full belly,” said Natalie Web, Principal of North Elementary School.
Nearly 200 families were served Friday and over 300 backpacks were passed out.
