The local “Toys for Tots” program for the Monongalia, Marion, and Preston Counties is collecting toys for this holiday season.
The national Toys for Tots program is an organization of the Marine Corps Reserve and collects 7 million toys annually.
The local Marine Corps recruiting office will be collecting toys during the Morgantown Christmas parade on December 3rd at 6:30 pm on High Street.
Everyone who attends is encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy.
Toys for ages 0 to 2 and ages 15 to 17 are needed most.
“They’ll be part of the parade because our Marine Corps League unit is also doing color guard. So we are at the beginning of the parade, and then they’ll see the recruiting truck, and they’ll see Marines in dressed blues, and if you have an unwrapped toy, just hand it to a Marine in dressed blues and they will be happy to take it. That toy will find its way to a child in need,” said Charity Quick-Borgard, local Toys for Tots coordinator.
