April is National Donate Life Month. On Wednesday, Mon Health celebrated with a flag raising ceremony.
This raises awareness of organ donation.
A new name is added to the transplant list every ten minutes, and at least eight people can benefit from one single donation.
The goal of the Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE) is to inspire individuals to register to be an organ donor.
“Twenty people die everyday waiting on the transplant list. So, it’s very important that we raise awareness for this cause and that we help people to understand what they can do by donating,” said Daphne Scordato, Chief Nursing Officer for Mon Health Systems.
A quilt was on display at the event that was made by families of the donors.
