Mon Health introduces new Cath Lab

Monongalia and Preston

Mon Health gave 12 News a look at one of the newest catheterization labs at the hospital.

They are in the final phases of building all new cath labs .

When construction is complete there will be four cath labs with state of the art equipment.

Five million dollars worth of restoration is going into this project.

Most procedures that take place in the lab allow patients to go home the same day.

“So it’s pretty amazing. You get an aortic valve replaced, and you’re going home the next day. Most of our coronary procedures, whether it’s a cath or a stint, they’re going home the same day because most of our cases are done through our radial artery and very shortly after the patient has got their stint, they can go home,” said Wissam Gharib, Director of Cath Labs and Director of Structural Heart at Mon Health.

The construction on all labs should be complete by August.
