MORGANTOWN W.Va – A Morgantown Fire Department firefighter was awarded the West Virginia Fire and Life Safety Educator of the Year award.

This was presented by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office. Andrew Dotson is a 13 year veteran of the Morgantown Fire Department. He was appointed to oversee the department’s fire prevention efforts in 2012.

“It was quite an honor. It was a group effort. It’s not just me, I just happen to be kind of a name that is tied to it. But without the support of our administration and senior leadership in the fire department and the guys and girls helping me, the award would never be possible,” said Dotson.

Dotson has provided training to more than 12,000 people annually through his development of community outreach programs.
