After sitting vacant for four years, the old Preston Memorial Hospital is being torn down.
In August, the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department purchased the property. The land is adjacent to the Buckwheat Festival grounds and will be used for parking during this event that happens every September.
“No immediate plans for use. The fire department donated the ground back in the 50’s for the construction of the hospital. We bought our ground back and so potential uses were limited while the structures were in place,” said Thomas R. Robinson, President of the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department.
The process for demolition will take about a month and a half.
