Operation Welcome Home will be hosting an event for veterans featuring a Mountaineer football great.
Former West Virginia University quarterback Pat White, who is now a financial representative for Northwestern Mutual, will speak at a workshop on Thursday, February 22 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Veterans and their family members are encouraged to attend to hear information on protecting their financial assets both now and in the future.
“Being able to recognize what’s happening in the market, what’s happening all around and what you need to do to protect your assets from extended penalties that could possibly occur,” explained Program Coordinator for Operation Welcome Home Tim Wolfe.
Wolfe said the organization often gets questions about finances and benefits, which prompts it to hold workshops like this.
“What we like to do here at Operation Welcome Home is be a depot of the information,’ Wolfe continued. “While we may not have the actual physical answer we definitely either will point you in the right direction or bring in speakers.”
He also hopes bringing in White will attract new veterans to Operation Welcome Home to learn about its services.
“It’s gonna put eyes on us that normally wouldn’t look at us,” Wolfe explained. “It will bring a veteran their family member into Operation Welcome Home that normally wouldn’t have thought of us. If they say hey you know Operation Welcome Home is doing this with Pat White and Pat White is agreeing to do this, maybe this is something we need to check out?”
The workshop will be held at Operation Welcome Home’s office at 452 Mylan Park Lane in Morgantown.
