Coal industry professionals from across the country traveled to Morgantown, as West Virginia University hosted its 40th Annual Mining and Reclamation Symposium sponsored by the West Virginia Mine Drainage Task Force.
The two-day-long event focused on a variety of issues including mining, mineral use and water treatment.
“Our task has been to try to inform regulators, scientists, industry on the best practices to mine and not create water problems, and so that’s what this meeting is about to bring people together to give an opportunity to tell them, to tell all of us about the good things that are going on,” said Jeff Sousen, WV state land reclamation specialist.
The West Virginia Mine Drainage Task Force’s mission is to educate the public with the hopes of growing stronger.
