‘Power of the Purse’ event supports early childhood education

Monongalia and Preston

Women United hosted “Power of the Purse” event Thursday night at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place to raise funds for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
The event brought hundreds of women together who want to support early childhood education in the community. Power of the Purse event featured dozens of mid to high-end silent auction purses. A live auction was also held along with entertainment and food.
“I think it’s really a unique opportunity to bring women together to talk about educational initiatives that can really help our children, and make a difference in our community. I mean our children are our future, and helping to support initiatives that can educate them and help them be stronger and grow is just such an important thing,” said Lydotta Taylor Co-Chair of the Women United group for Monongalia and Preston Counties.
Proceeds from the event will support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in the community. The library is already available in 39 counties in the state providing free books to children birth to age five.
