Public Art displayed on trash cans in downtown Morgantown

Monongalia and Preston

If you are in downtown Morgantown, you may have noticed some new public art.

Trash receptacles in the city have been wrapped with artwork from five local artists.

This is made possible through the collaboration of Arts Monongahela, Main Street Morgantown, The City of Morgantown, and The Stick Co.

This is just one of many art projects that are planned for the downtown area.

“There’s a huge art scene in Morgantown and the surrounding areas. We wanted to be able to bring them all together to work and have projects, which brings the community together,” said Barbara Watkins, executive director of Main Street Morgantown.

The Stick Co. began wrapping the trash cans on High Street on Thursday.
