Sundale Nursing Home holds Tea Party in memory of 9/11 victims

Monongalia and Preston

Thursday afternoon, Sundale Nursing Home held a special tea party for residents, as a tribute to 9/11 victims.

Money raised at the tea party will be donated to the Shelly Marshall Foundation, in remembrance of Shelly who worked at the Pentagon.

This foundation funds tea parties at nursing homes, sponsors creative writing projects for students, holds story hours at public libraries, and hosts art workshops.

“Having tea parties is a way to keep Shelly’s memory alive. That’s how it all started here many years ago and we just continue the custom all the time,” said Donna Tennant, Sundale Nursing Home.

Residents were served a high tea, which had cucumber sandwiches, scones, muffins and more.
