A Monongalia County high school has received an award for having 100% voter registration.
Secretary of State Mac Warner presented Trinity Christian School seniors with the Jennings Randolph Award on Monday in Morgantown.
The award is handed out throughout the state to schools that have every 18-year-old student registered to vote.
Warner says students have been able to vote after turning 18 since the amendment was passed in 1971.
“Jennings Randolph, of course, was the U.S. Senator responsible for getting the 26th amendment passed which allowed eighteen year old’s the right to vote,” said Warner. “And so, we are really encouraging that civil engagement at the high school level to get people right as there able to vote for the first time to get involved in the process.
Warner also presented Hundred High School with the same award Monday.
