Women on Wellness came to Monongalia County for the first time on Saturday.
Chestnut Ridge Church hosted the program, which was developed in 2005.
Its goal is to reach women where they are in the state. Women on Wellness events have been held in nearly 40 counties.
This was a day for and about women, to help empower them to live a healthier lifestyle.
A variety of activities such as health screenings, nutrition counseling, fitness workshops, education opportunities, and holistic offerings were a part of the event.
“They get to do all of these wonderful breakout groups to learn different ways of doing things. It’s not about a diet, it’s not about a particular exercise, it’s what works for you. How do we live that healthy lifestyle, and what does that mean?” said Betty Critch, organizer of the Women on Wellness event.
Many resources from the community were provided to help the women develop their own healthy lifestyle that suits them.
