Women United of Mon and Preston Counties launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library book program

Monongalia and Preston

United Women, an affinity group of United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties, officially launched the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Monongalia County.

A kickoff event was held at Suncrest Towne Center. Every child from birth to five years old that a parent signs up will receive one free quality book a month in the mail. Imagination Library is just one way to promote education through reading.

“What a wonderful gift for a child to get. They’re excited to get the package at home in the mail and it’s a book. And its so important to have reading in the home, and so we’re really excited to share this program with our community,” said Lydotta Taylor, Co-Chair of Women United of Monongalia and Preston Counties.

The event included an evening of book readings, children’s crafts, giveaways, and refreshments. Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a cost free international program for children with over 40 of our 55 counties in West Virginia participating.
