West Virginia University alumna Emily Calandrelli returned to her roots and visited the SPARK! Imagination and Science Center in Morgantown on Saturday afternoon.

Calandrelli is the executive producer and host of FOX’s Xploration Outer Space, and a correspondent for Bill Nye Saves the World.

She was in town to take part in WVU’s TedX talk on Friday.

Calandrelli said her mission is to get children interested in science at a young age.

“I really relate to the people of Morgantown. I grew up here. I have so much in common with all of the kids here and I left West Virginia and found all of these amazing opportunities,” Calandrelli said. “I’ve had so many adventures. It’s really fun for me to come back to my home town and share that excitement, and share those adventures, and talk about all of the opportunities that one can pursue if they go in science and engineering.”

While at the science center, Calandrelli visited with children and signed autographs.
