WVU Army and Air Force hold final flag retreat ceremony at Stansbury Hall

Monongalia and Preston

Friday, WVU Army and Air Force units conducted the final flag retreat ceremony at the historic Stansbury Hall.

The building has housed the Army and Air Force ROTC programs for several years and will soon be demolished.

It will be replaced by a new Business and Economics Building.

The joint ROTC detail passed the U.S. Flag to Brig. Gen. Wilbur wolf, a 1985 graduate of the program.

Wolf passed the colors to President Gee, who will keep the colors in a safe place.

“Very symbolic for me. I was a cadette here and was inside these walls from 1981 to 1985 before I went off to the army. Obviously the history of this as an ROTC site and things like Jerry West playing basketball here. Very historic for Morgantown and West Virginia. I’m just honored to be able to come back and be able to participate in this very symbolic ceremony,” said Wolf.

The new ROTC offices will be moved to the Evansdale Campus.
