MORGANTOWN W.Va – The WVU Community Leadership Academy kicked off Wednesday at the Morgantown Marriot.

This event helps emerging and established leaders develop their leadership skills.

Thursday morning, keynote speaker, David C. Hardesty, talked about lessons learned during his lifetime in a leadership position.

The academy brings together community leaders, elected officials, economic developers and anyone with the desire to serve and become a leader.

Topics emphasize enhancing personal leadership skills, and provide an understanding of issues affecting communities.

“We hope that the attendees at the community leadership conference come away with ideas that they can initially and immediately use, where they live, where they work, as well as a better understanding of what it means to be a leader and how they can over the long term help move their communities forward,” said Michael Dougherty, organizer of event.

The event will conclude Friday morning with a closing ceremony and a presentation of recognition and awards.
